  1. A laver is any of several edible red 
  2. seaweeds, including Porphyra umbicalis. 
  3. Growing on the shore and below, attached to 
  4. rocks and stones, laver forms thin, 
  5. irregularly rounded sheets of tissue up to 
  6. 20cm (8inches) across. It becomes almost 
  7. black when dry.
